THE COST OF FREEDOM By ... Steve Lucky Although freedom for free would be nice, Usually freedom comes at a price. Some do all they can to kill, torture, and enslave Every human being from birth until grave. Those who want freedom are forced to fight For the justice for all they know is right. Love, most of all, needs to found Before the first drop of blood hits the ground. People wanting to do other things Know first hand the cost such a fight brings. New dimensions to freedom to help out another. How can even the will to live Compare to a selfless individual's ability to give. Others see it and copy their deeds Going off to help with another's needs. Revenge creates a chain reaction too Making fighting for freedom much harder to do. Nonviolent methods may be the best way To purchase freedom with minimum pay. Leaders of those methods are remembered for a long time, Outlasting those unwilling to make such a climb. Successful leaders of this type discover their fate By paying a price tremendously great. Powerful forces like these collide Destroying mighty empires from the inside. Can manmade methods, no matter how clever Give total freedom to everyone forever? Ideas for new methods come from what occurred before. Recipients of freedom will always want more. Keep in mind those who sacrified, no matter how small. Few comforts compare to freedom for all. Copyright 2003, Steve Lucky
