COMPUTERS AND PEOPLE By ... Steve Lucky A single misplaced character and a computer will not understand What the typist was trying to say. Lacking intelligence, despite performing complex functions, Computers can not figure things out on their own. People, on the other hand, sometimes recognize spelling errors So they can perform the intended commands Instead of what was actually typed. Guesses about such things are not always right And can make the situation worse. However, more often than not, People are able to successfully correct mistakes Others make when typing under less than ideal circumstances. No matter how sophisticated computers may semm, Human beings are the only ones Capable of carrying out flawed commands. Even though people may give flawed commands, They are the only ones capable Of giving out commands of any kind. Useful tools such as computers Make lives easier for human beings, But people have to be precise when giving computers instructions. Since people are the only ones With any intelligence of their own, People have to make sure things go as planned. Copyright 2003, Steve Lucky
