BURDEN By ... Steve Lucky One married couple had the responsibility To make sure the entire church was fed. It was a huge responsibility for only two people. When people offered to help them, Both of them insisted they could do it on their own. Great was the burden they had placed on themselves And they were unable to see it Until the wife got sick Leaving the husband to do things alone. Somehow he had to find a way To get help at the last minute. He called people who had offered to help in the past, But they were all busy doing other things. Praying for a solution, he set to work preparing meals alone. Even though he knew he could not Fix all the needed meals in time by himself, Some meals were better than none at all. Work continued as if the burden Could actually be lifted from his shoulders. As if in response to his prayer, The preacher and his family stopped by to check up on them. Once he explained the situation to them, Plans were made for the preacher's family to stay behind And help while the preacher gave the sermon. Enough meals for everyone were made in plenty of time Despite previous appearances, everything had been solved Because someone was willing to share the burden. Next time such an event occurred, the couple made sure Others would be there to help lighten the burden. Copyright 2003, Steve Lucky
