BROWN By ... Steve Lucky Brown, the color of mud, the color of soil, Frequently overlooked by people scurrying about Hoping to find a beautiful arrangement Of brightly colored flowers. Little thought is given to the dull brown soil Without which such flowers would not be possible. Unseen and overlooked things serve their purpose too. Although it lacks the stands out features Displayed in the colors of the rainbow, The hope and creativity of white, And the mystery of grey or black, Humble brown has its own part to play In the overall picture of life. Serving the basic needs of the other colors, Dependable brown provides what is Essential for living things to grow. Not all jobs appear to be important. Appearances, however, can be deceiving. Job of vital importance to global society Can seem meaningless, dull, an insigificant at first glace Like the brown soil from which the brightly colored flowers bloom. Copyright 2006, Steve Lucky
