To Change The World And Other Poems

UN-CONDITIONAL LOVE By ... Steve Lucky Is conditional love for real? It does not have the same type of feel. Unconditional love will go To places we may never know. Whether or not you clean your room, Do me a favor, cheer up my gloom, Go out with me, overcome your greed, Love me back, get a job or succeed I LOVE YOU! It is a face That will not change with any act. Copyright 1997, 2001, Steve Lucky THE NIGHT SKY By ... Steve Lucky Gazing out at the night sky Into the atmosphere way up high Sometimes I wonder what might be shown Lurking in the vast unknown Seen only now by human eye Could a meteor or comet be in the skies Or a chance encounter with a UFO? Places it comes from and places it will go Have never been seen by anyone. Maybe it will be just a mundane run From an airplane or helicopter late at night Which soon will disappear from sight. An eclipse may even be spotted by me. These things, however, are rarities. Most of the time I just see stars. Copyright 1998, 2001, Steve Lucky PEOPLE By...Steve Lucky People come and people go and people stay the same Some people try to change the world And others just complain Some people have a future plan And some have none at all Some will not listen to what others say And some will take the call Some tell others what they think And some just let them be Other people may be in the world But there is also you and me Copyright 1998, Steve Lucky WRITING CONSULTANT By ... Steve Lucky I helped with many shows, hardly making a sound. Only in the Production Credits is my name found. The Writing Consultant work I did behind the scenes Must be proven by available means. Shows like Sophie's Choice and the Elmstreet series too. In order to prove it, what should I do? What facts do I need to show I helped with cartoons Like The Simpsons, South Park, and Sailor Moon? Project A-ko may be my best bet, But the Grey Side and Blue Side still have not met. Doug's First Movie is closer still. Disagreement might make me ill. With The Mummy's release I could get a loan, But I want credit for work of my own. Though records exist, they are hard to find. I need a place where I can speak my mind. Organizations to which I belong keep my hopes alive. Now I sit back and wait for things to arrive. Depending on others will not bring power and wealth. If I want the credit, I must get it myself. Copyright 1999, 2001, Steve Lucky LOVE IS ABOVE ALL By ... Steve Lucky Arguements on the internet Worries about getting wet Things I need are not here yet Love is above all Mass murders occur in school Teaching good is dumb, evil is cool If this is true I will be a fool Love is above all Fake solutions get in the way The problem can be solved today This is what I have to say Love is above all Though you and I may sometimes fall And wind up pressed against the wall We still should listen to the call Love is above all Copyright 1999, Steve Lucky A LONG TRIP By ... Steve Lucky Traveling continues by day and night Down the road with no end in sight. Taking turns at the wheel was keeping A way for all passengers to do some sleeping Stopping for gas and stopping to eat Was something to regularly repeat. As grass, trees, signs, and rails went by Two constant companions remained, the road and the sky Construction work was slowing down Steady travel from town to town. Hills and rain the group would endure. For the distance remaining they were unsure. With the end coming into sight They knew everything would be alright. Copyright 1999, 2001, Steve Lucky THE WAY FORGOTTEN BE By ... Steve Lucky Looking around I hear a sound The way forgotten be With all my sight I look for the light And yet I do not see A lifetime of days Can not hide it away The way I now must find The search may be long But it still must go on For me and all of my kind Copyright 1999, Steve Lucky NATURE TRAIL By ... Steve Lucky Walking down the nature trail, I sometimes stop and listen to the sounds around me. Chirping birds, chattering insects, and the branches of the trees Gently swaying in the wind Contribute to the symphony of nature Human beings will never be able to reproduce. Looking at everything around me, I wonder how long it will last. Will nature trails still exist a thousand years from now? Could nature trails be the only remnant Of the world we once knew? Will nature be able to reestablish itself Either here or on another world Such as the moon, Mars, Or a satellite of Jupiter and Saturn? Nature trails may be found on space stations With the look and feel of those on Earth. Continuing to walk and think, these questions remain with me As I observe the sights and sounds Of the nature trail. Copyright 1999, 2001, Steve Lucky A SILENT SCREAM FOR HELP By ... Steve Lucky She screamed but no one could hear her. She cried out but no one replied. The only thing she could hear Was the sound of her own voice Echoing in the darkness. "Why will no one come?" she cried desperately. "Do they even know I am here?" She looked around but the darkness revealed nothing As she fell to her knees she realized The floor was the only thing familiar to her. She put her hands on the floor and paused Wanting to collapse with exhaustion. Instead she started to crawl, Slowly in a steady direction. Her foreward momentum was stopped By an object making its presence known to her. Feeling the object she began to stand. The couch could support her weight, for now. Leaving the temporary safety of the couch She began to walk putting her hands in front of her With each step she feared Suddenly crashing into something But the way remained clear. The wall came to her abruptly. With a sigh of relief she realized It would lead her out. Feeling the wall she began moving to the right. She felt it was a positive direction Even if not the correct one. Reaching the corner her spirits rose. She had another wall to guide her. For the first time an object obstructed her. This was not a problem She merely felt her way around whatever it was. Until she again reached the familiarity of the wall. After one more corner her hand Rested on a smooth wooden object. It was the door! It was the way out! As she turned the cold, metal knob She found the way to be unlocked "I did it!" she exclaimed greatfully. Still she recieved no reply. When she entered the next room She reluctantly faced the fact That her problems were not yet over. She was still in the dark. Copyright 1999, Steve Lucky AKA UKA EE By ... Steve Lucky If only I could say Aka uka ee If only I could say Eka aka uka or If only I could say Aka uka orka ee I would be so much happier Than I was before. Copyright 1999, Steve Lucky THE CROSSROADS OF 30 By ... Steve Lucky With three decades of life complete And hopefully decades more to come, I sit at the crossroads And search for my true destination. The path behind me is now familiar I know my likes and dislikes of it precisely. Still it is no use living in the past. The paths to either side offer only deviations From where I want to go. It is no use taking those. The path I want is straight ahead. I see where I want to go And I know how to get there, But looking too far ahead May cause me to loose my footing. I must concentrate on where I am, Sitting at the crossroads of thirty. Copyright 1999, Steve Lucky IF THE WORLD WOULD END TOMORROW By ... Steve Lucky If the world would end tomorrow What would you do and say? What things would you accomplish If we had just one more day. Would you try to spend more time With your family and friends, Or set a certain goal, Or even try to make ammends? Would you send a message To anyone able and willing to hear? Would you bravely make the best of things Or hide trembling with fear? The world should not end tomorrow, But this I have to say. We may not even know it, When we have just one more day. Copyright 1999, Steve Lucky AMERICA AT THE MILLENIUM By ... Steve Lucky What does it take to write The American poem of the millenium? Does it require a vocabulary Of extraordinary proportions, Or historical knowledge Complete to the minutest detail? Does it merely require Paper and something with which to write, Or even existence in a certain time and place? The land of the free Requires none of these things! The poem is carried out In our everyday activities. Poetry in motion. This is the American poem of the millenium! Copyright 1999, Steve Lucky CHANGES By ... Steve Lucky Sometimes we try to destroy What we do not understand And try to scare off anyone Who might be a threat To our authority or our reputation. We are not kind to each other As often as we should be. We seem to get too wrapped up In our own problems To notice what the other person is doing. To change things I must start with myself, The person that I know best. I must open my eyes And see what is truly going on. Then, and only then, Can I remind others to do the same. Maybe the changes I cause Will not be tremendous or spectacular, But I know it will make a difference. Copyright 1999, Steve Lucky WATER By ... Steve Lucky Why is a simple substance like water So vitally important to our well being? What secrets does it hold In its drops, puddles, springs, lakes, and oceans? Not enough water and we die of dehydration. Too much water and we suffocate. It gives us life, can take our life, And keeps us going in between, Refreshing us when exhausted, Cleansing us when dirty, And cheering us up when depressed. Rains come and floods kill, But without water we can not survive. Every day we need a certain amount of water. However, that does not replace our greater need For another simple substance, air. Copyright 1999, 2001, Steve Lucky THE CROSS By ... Steve Lucky The cross, an instrument of death, Unavoidable for the true follower of Christ. Crosses come in many different Shapes, sizes, and forms, But we each have our own cross to carry As Christ commanded us to do. Do we seek to save our own lives And dig pits to fall into Or do we loose our lives for His sake And build mountain peaks to ascend? The answers are not always simple But the cross remains in front of us Whether we want to look away or not. Each of us has our own cross to carry, Like the cross Christ once carried for us. Copyright 1999, Steve Lucky HEROES By ... Steve Lucky Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. They are not always the people You expect them to be. They can be geniuses or mentally incompetent, Members of high society or social outcasts, Sensational athletes or permanently hospitalized, Beauty queens or too hideous to look at, Living in an exotic mansion or homeless. Whatever the case, heroes became heroes By doing heroic things. In spite of it all, or having it all, They find a way To make the world a better place. Anyone can be a hero, If he or she wants to be. All it takes is a little effort. Copyright 1999, 2000, Steve Lucky GROWING UP By … Steve Lucky Where do I go? What will I see? What should I learn? Who will I be? Does the process ever end? Tell me soon these things my friend. You will go many places And see many things. You must learn love and friendship. Pick your favorite things. Work on you weaknesses Then you will see, The training you need For who you should be. The process does not seem to end. Does it stop after death? I do not know my friend. Copyright 1999, Steve Lucky TO FAMILY By ... Steve Lucky Two people had a dream To be the best that they could be, One was driven to succeed And one stopped for family. The one who stopped could see That the road was paved and clear And though the dream may not always be achieved, It was something he could hear. The one who stopped at nothing Found the road a lonely one When he needed something different He swapped family for fun. Though both of them had their fair shares Of failure and success, Eventually they both agreed That stopping was the best. Copyright 1999, Steve Lucky TRUTH AND LIES By ... Steve Lucky At times it can be hard to distinguish Truth from deception, the genuine from the fake, Real things from illusions, and the divine from the diabolical. It is almost impossible to tell without the proper clues. Problems like these are too big to ignore And too important to just take a guess. Time is needed to study the problem carefully, But time can be limited. Many people depend on split second decisions. By the time the truth is uncovered It may be too late for them. Confusion is plentiful in this world where Lies can act like the truth And the truth can appear as a lie. How can I ever hope to tell the difference? Copyright 2000, 2001, Steve Lucky LIFE GOES ON By ... Steve Lucky Over the course of a lifetime, Many different things will occur. Triumpth and tragedy, success and failure, Will become a part of everyday life. Regardless of what happens, Or maybe even because of what happens, Life goes on ... Whether we want it to or not. Copyright 2000, Steve Lucky SIMPLE THINGS By ... Steve Lucky In the complex society of today The simple things remain tried and true. Stone age people knew the way To keep these things of great value. Trust, hope, courage, honesty, and love Will outlast the entire human race. Qualities to be placed above More mundane things that we face. With our complex, modern life Simple things should not be lost in the mist Without simple things, like a husband or wife, Could a complex world even exist? Lack of simple things gives us nothing Adding simple things give us everything. Copyright 2000, 2001, Steve Lucky SLEEP By ... Steve Lucky Sleep, greatly needed yet often overlooked, Giving our body and mind a chance to be restored. Energy to put our problems behind us Reduces the chance of getting bored. Though some problems will return, When relaxed we can face them better. Facing the problem from another angle Helps define it to the letter. More important things will always exist, But sleep will find us eventually. Without preparation when we can sleep, How do we when we dare not be? Sleep will come, like it or not, And for it we need to be ready. A frequent stop on the journey of life, Ignoring it makes it grow steady. Good or bad, friend or foe, Other problems that we face Without the needed relief of sleep Grow and spread all over the place. The problems seem insurmountable As if we are doomed to lose the fight Once we give up, the battle is over That is why we must try with all our might. Copyright 2000, 2001, Steve Lucky FORGIVENESS By ... Steve Lucky None of us are perfect. All of us do wrong things sometimes. If unresolved, the darkness spreads to others Until the entire world is hidden By a thick layer of hatred and despair. The cycle of negativity continues Until forgiveness can be found. We need to forgive others For the things that they have done And we need to forgive ourselves And accept forgiveness too. Once the darkness has been removed The light of righteousness can be seen. Love, kindness, and joy will prosper And evil will cease to be If only we can learn about forgiveness. Copyright 2000, Steve Lucky THE RISING STAR By ... Steve Lucky I am a rising star, I say. My name has grown since yesterday. If it continues growing, soon I will see Whether or not people watching can recognize me. Only time will tell if I am rising still. Big stars talking to me strengthens my will. Stories and poems I wrote, I do not need to prove. I am better than most writers now, but still can improve. The road ahead is difficult and rarely in the shade, But if I keep working I can make the grade. Stars will rise and fall, so people will complain. I want to leave something I know will remain. To see, hear, smell, taste, touch, know, and feel A simple human contact I will know is real. Copyright 2000, 2001, Steve Lucky ALPHABET POEM By ... Steve Lucky As I make the needed preparations for Beginning the selected task, I Consider all of the Different possibilities I can use. Eventually I should be able to Find something which can Get attention without loosing my Hold on the much needed Individual style and feel of my writing. Just those things can Keep me going without getting Lost in something which May seem a good solution, but it not Natural to the steady Open flow of words used to Perfect the poem with all the Quality and style expected from me. Reality, always present, can Sometimes fool me by being Tricky enough to get Under my skin and then Very suddenly coming out When I least expect it. Xenophobia is abundant, Yet I strive to Zoom forward to whatever may await. Copyright 2000, 2001, Steve Lucky SEARCHING By ... Steve Lucky I am searching for something. Something I want, but do not have That will keep me satisfied Now and in the years to come Nowhere I go and nothing I think, say, or do Will ever take this satisfaction away from me. Does such a thing actually exist? If it does, do I have any hope Of ever finding it? I turn to God for the answers. Copyright 2001, Steve Lucky ALL OF US By ... Steve Lucky Billions of people live in the world today With different ages, genders, and overall wealth From many different locations in different nations With varying states of basic health. Food, shelter, good health, and companionship Are important needs for all of us. Whether an animal, another person, or even a spirit The need for another can cause quite a fuss. Needs we have to get along With people different than ourselves. No difference is too great to overcome. People are not put away on the shelves Each has something to offer the rest of the world No matter what the condition For all of us are like no other This is the importance of the mission. Copyright 2000, 2001, Steve Lucky INTO THE UNKNOWN By ... Steve Lucky As I journey into the unknown I wonder what is out there waiting for me. No matter how well I prepare It will always be something I did not expect. Whether a pleasant surprise Or an unexpected tragedy I will not know in advance. My imagination can get the best of me Until I think the slightest breeze Is a monster about to tear me to shreds. Normally it is not, But enough doubt remains to keep me guessing. No matter how well I explore, The unknown will always exist And no part of it will disappear Unless I explore it. Though dangers do indeed await, It may be a greater danger to stay In a world full of hate and ignorance. What can be gained on such a journey? What can be lost? These are the things I ponder As I continue ... into the unknown. Copyright 2000, Steve Lucky THE GREAT TRAGEDY By ... Steve Lucky Why did this time of darkness have to come? It should not have happened. Without warning it came destroying everything in its path. Only a trail of crumbling ruins was left behind. Nothing seems to effect it. All hopes and dreams are lost to it. This is the moment of crisis, The time when love stands alone. Good and evil can at last be seen For what they truly are. As the crumbling ruins turn to dust, Weeping and celebration can be heard. Little do we know our path for all eternity Can be chosen at this moment As everything fades around us. Copyright 2000, 2001, Steve Lucky THE GREATER JOY By ... Steve Lucky Good news and great joy for everyone! Not one person has been forgotten! Victory will not be found in the grave! Even if the mountains crumble and the world is destroyed The gift of love will still be ours! The battle we could not win Has been won for us! At last the name of God is known! Jesus, conqueror of death, Has given us a way to beat the unbeatable And triumpth over any and all tragedy! May His name be praised forever! Jesus Christ has found salvation for us all! Copyright 2000, 2001, Steve Lucky PERSISTENCE By ... Steve Lucky One of the secrets of success is to never give up, Even when the odds appear to be against you. The obstacles may change for better or for worse, But persistence remains a reliable constant In both familiar situations And situations never before encountered. The drive to continue Can turn defeat into victory and failure into success. The will to keep going Eventually wears down even the highest of mountains. When nothing is done, nothing is normally accomplished. It takes persistence to create a path Where none previously existed And it is through persistence That most goals can be achieved. Copyright 2000, Steve Lucky CHALLENGE OF KINDNESS By ... Steve Lucky To all people I issue a challenge of kindness. More kindness and less cruelty is needed in the world And we are the ones who can make it happen By being kind to one another. Even the kindnest of people And even the cruelest of people want kindness. It is something anyone can give, Including people I have never met, Everyone I know, and myself. Being kind is not always easy. It can be very difficult sometimes. When pressure is high, time is short, And nothing ever seems to balance out, Kindness is something we may not even think about. In the long run, however, an act of kindness Is the best thing to do. The gift of kindness keeps giving And returns to the giver Whether or not the gift is acknowledged. Kindness can endure all sorts of cruelty And does not tire or loose its value over time. It is something greatly needed, So I challenge everyone, including myself, to create more. Copyright 2000, 2001, Steve Lucky FLOWER By ... Steve Lucky A bright red flower grew In the middle of a golden meadow. Undisturbed by human beings Its petals fluttered gently in the breeze. Only the sound of the wind And the chirping of the birds Broke the silence surrounding it. The meadow smelled fresh and alive And the flower added the sweet scent Found normally only in nature. A light rain began to fall Its cold yet refreshing drops Providing one of the many things The flower needed to grow. Such problems seemed simple and easy to solve. As long as the distant humans Did not interfere with the course of nature. Copyright 2000, Steve Lucky SWIMMING By ... Steve Lucky As I step into the cold, refreshing water For the first time in almost a year I wonder why I do not come more often. Gradually making my way to the deep end I realize I take things like this for granite, Unaware of what I truly have. Once the water is up to my neck I dive in, submerging completely. Cold water is no longer Something I have to worry about. Moving freely about the pool, Sometimes slowly and sometimes quickly, Gives me a chance to relax. Encountering other people, I say a few words To acknowledge their presence And ask them for things such as the time. When time to leave arrives, I face a new set of problems. The chill of the water is replaced By the chill of the wind. Wrinkles or sunburn can occur from staying too long. Even so, it is something I do not do very often And I think it was worth my time. Copyright 2000, 2001, Steve Lucky HIDDEN CLOVER By ... Steve Lucky Clover leaves come in groups of three. A four leaf clover is a rarity. Looking hard, I try to see What a four leaf clover can actually be. Such a lucky find for me, A four leaf clover to silently Give me a good way to plea For my distinctive personality. Thoughts of the activity Happening across the sea Bring back quite attentively The clover which I dare decree Shows signs of individuality The best hope for prosperity. One visible clover has leaves of four And this allows me to be free. Copyright 2000, 2001, Steve Lucky AT THE BRIDGE By ... Steve Lucky A small boy approached an old, wooden bridge Connecting two sides of the forest Seperated by a mighty river. The bridge had seen many travellers come and go As it did its job, providing safe passage To the other side of the river. Normally the people crossing Did not pay much attention to the bridge. Their only concern was reaching their destination. The small boy made his way over to the bridge Knowing nothing about the bridge Or the people who crossed it. He was just looking for a way To reach the other side. The old bridge greeted him In the same way as all the others. The small boy, however, Was content to remain at the bridge. He sat on the bridge And watched the river flow underneath. Gradually the old bridge realized That this was his destination. The small boy had no place else to go And no other place in mind. Copyright 2000, Steve Lucky COMPUTER ROOM By ... Steve Lucky In a room constantly kept cool, Twelve computers, in two even rows, faced each other. The computers never talked to one another. They just silently hummed With an occasional beep or clicking sound. All of the computers were connected In one way or another Though this would not be known To the casual observer. The computers did not show any kind of togetherness. Four people were seated At four of the computers Hardly noticing the room was constantly kept cool. None of the people talked to each other. They just remained silent With an occasional grunt or movement. All of them worked for the same company Though this would not be known To the casual observer. The people did not show any kind of togetherness. Copyright 2000, Steve Lucky THE BARRIER By ... Steve Lucky Doing the daily activities in my daily routine, I encountered a barrier totally unfamiliar to me And unlike any I had ever encountered before. No known way of destroying it, going through it, Penetrating it, or even going around it could be found. Why did this barrier exist And why was it so difficult to overcome? When I cried to my friends for help They said it was something I had to handle on my own. Once again I faced it With no idea what to do. Slowly stepping forward I felt A tremendous weight pressing down against me. Did I have the strength to continue Or even stay where I was? As the last of my energy was slipping away, I looked up and saw a light Passing through the barrier. The barrier was desolving all around me. Relaxed and burden free, I walked to the other side Singing a happy tune with every step. Once safely on the other side I turned and faced the barrier once more Realizing the barrier and all it represented Was still something I feared And I wondered if I would Ever have to face anything like it again. Copyright 2000, 2001, Steve Lucky INVISIBLE WORLD By ... Steve Lucky Things exist we can not see. They are unknown to you and me. These things effect us just the same As anything that we can name. The invisible world is real and true Although it is beyond our view. Its hidden parts, both good and bad, Can make us happy or make us sad. Most of this world we will never find. Some bits and pieces come to mind. What we see will tell us of what we can not. The sun high overhead will make it hot. Clues we can find if we know where to look. The outside can be like a mystery book. You and I can change the invisible world too With the unseen results of all that we do. Copyright 2000, Steve Lucky MISTAKES By ... Steve Lucky Mistakes are made. Wrong deeds are done. Good deeds are ended Before they have begun. Closing my eyes I pretend not to see And compound my errors With false secrecy. Deep in my heart I know I am to blame, But I still lack the courage To face up to my shame. Trembling with fear I avoid public view. Time to face my mistakes. That is what I must do. Mistakes are quite common. It is a well know fact. No matter what surrounds me, I must get back on track. Copyright 2000, Steve Lucky THE GIFT By ... Steve Lucky I have recieved a gift of exceptional value, So simple, yet containing such incredible depth. Tremendous things have come from it Exceeding all our reasoning and understanding. All I have done before is meaningless Compared to the gift that is mine to keep. It is the grace of God, Brought to us by Jesus Christ Who was once both God and human being. This gift I can never even begin to understand, Yet it is there for me. All I have to do is reach for it. Copyright 2000, 2001, Steve Lucky DANCING GIRL By ... Steve Lucky Alone in the room she practiced Watching her movements closely By looking at her own reflection. Her movements told a story That combined ancient tradition And modern ideas Blended in a way never seen before. Complex movements came only with age But required youth to perform them. That was why she practiced Observing her movements closely in the mirror That covered the entire wall. All her greatness would come later For now she would learn from her teacher Who smiled as she entered the room With the rest of her kindergarten class. Copyright 2000, Steve Lucky MINOR PLANET By ... Steve Lucky Another minor planet was discovered In orbit between Neptune and Pluto. Known only as 2000 EB173 It is second in size Behind only the asteriod Ceres. The definitons of major planets and minor planets Are being challenged yet again. The line between them Is a weak and uncertain one As they orbit together around the sun. Such distinctions are made by us In an attempt to categorize The seemingly infinite confusion of the universe. To us it makes things easier But to the planets themselves It does not make any difference. Copyright 2000, Steve Lucky COURAGE By ... Steve Lucky Courage does not mean living without fear. It means to keep going in spite of it here. Many people are afraid of many things, Yet they look to see what the future brings. Finding the courage inside they see How to use it to the best of their ability. Some things should be scary by far Like running out in front of a car Or standing near the edge of a cliff. We need to find the courage if We are to avoid situations like these And not just go wherever we please. The time will come to more than one When dangerous things still need to be done. Over time we will loose and gain, But our fear will still remain. Our courage also still exists In times of fear it still persists To prove to the entire mind It is greater than all our fears combined. Copyright 2000, 2001, Steve Lucky DESTINY By ... Steve Lucky Does my life have a destiny, A purpose, or a plan? Is there something I was put on Earth To do while I still can? As I do my daily chores And pay my daily toll, I wonder if it takes me Any closer to my goal Of achieving my true destiny Whatever it may be. I may not always hear the voice, But I know it is for me To do what I'm supposed to do For work and play and rest. If I want to achieve my destiny, I must give it all my best. Our fellow creatures need our help To survive and prosper For countless generations to come. The course of the twenty first century Can be shaped, at least in part, By any one of us. All of it faded into nothingness. Copyright 2001, Steve Lucky SECRETS By ... Steve Lucky Secrets are as numerous and varied As the fish that swim in the sea. Inside one mind they can be carried, Shared with a few considered trust worthy, Or even revealed to the entire world When the time is right. Secrets can ruin people when hurled Or save them from a terrible might. Even the best kept secrets that when unsealed Can destroy a person, or even a nation, By accident may be revealled, Or learned through careful observation. Once a secret is learned, should it be undone? Is there an easy solution? The consequences of either one May only add to the polution. Copyright 2001, Steve Lucky TO CHANGE THE WORLD By ... Steve Lucky To change the world I must begin somewhere. It might as well begin with me. I am the one who can make a difference By bringing money, food, or even a kind word To the people who need it And then telling others to do the same. To change the world I must keep going. The world is a big place And it will take time To create a change that lasts And spreads over the entire globe Making the entire world a better place to live. To change the world I must face any obsticle, Including the unknown barriers that still await me. I must be persistant and never give up No matter who or what stands in my way. I must find the courage to continue My slow and steady progress helping all of us. To change the world, I must challenge myself And learn how to love unconditionally. Copyright 2001, Steve Lucky OASIS By ... Steve Lucky The soldier crawled through the scorching desert. His body was bruised and covered with blood, But his spirit was not broken. Every movement he made was a struggle For his very survival, Yet something inside him refused to give up The battle he had been fighting for so long. As the hot sun continued to burn his back And the hot desert sand burned his hands and knees, He wondered if his commanding officer would even notice The disappearance of a single soldier Among the thousands of soldiers Instructed to fight in one of the thousands of battles In a war that looked like it would never end. Frequency he wanted to stop and rest To end the pain caused by his constant forward motion, But he was experienced enough to know If you stopped to rest during a war You might never move again. When all seemed lost, he spotted in the distance An oasis providing both water and a place to hide. Was it just a mirage? There was only one way he could know for sure. With all the strength he had left He pressed himself on towards the object in the distance That was getting ever closer. As he got closer, he knew he oasis was real. He had reached a point of relative safely Where he could cool himself off, rest, heal his wounds, And wait for help to arrive Which he was confident would come. Without You, I know I am lost, Yet I do not always look for You. I let what I think my problems are Get in the way of my true problems. You know more about my problems And how to solve them than I do. Whether or not I recieve what I pray for, I know You will always listen to me. Each color plays its part In the symphony of color That appears after the storm. Copyright 2001, Steve Lucky JOURNEY By ... Steve Lucky As I journey down a path I have travelled many times before, The things I might encounter along the way Still remain a mystery. Although the path I am taking Was planned well in advance And the equipment I will use Are mostly things I have used before, My course still depends On a number of different factors, Some of them I can control, Some of them I can not. The available transportation, my willingness to continue, And the people who help me along the way All play their part In shaping the path to my destination The journey could take a few seconds Or last for an entire lifetime. It is a journey for truth, for knowledge, And most of all for friendship. Communication skills are something I feel I need To reach my destination. This is an area where I am improving. Most importantly, I must help others And never overlook anyone So I will not be overlooked myself As I continue on my journey. Copyright 2001, Steve Lucky PRODUCTION CREDITS By ... Time I spent on various shows On average was not very long. Still denying my part, no matter how small, Is something I know is wrong. Guests at conventions sometimes surprise me By actually knowing my name. Whether or not I am recognized, My part exists just the same. Awards I recieved due to this unseen record, Have not been effective as a source of proof. To give them what I think they want My career will have to go through the roof. Some professionals in the industry Do not know what Production Credits are With obsticles like these to overcome, How can I go very far? One person is all it takes To offer a helping hand. Someone who makes an effort to look And spreads the news across the land. I still believe proof of my work Can be told or even be shown. For now I look for a better way To make my hard work known. The people playing have to endure All kinds of real and fictious weather. Frequent interruptions with trivial problems, The enjoyment of fantasy it will destroy. Obsession with fantasy, ignoring the most basic needs, Is something no sane person can enjoy. What is fantasy, what is reality, And how much fantasy is too much? Fantasy is a part of reality, So it needs to be treated as such. It may not be the most important part, But a part it will be still. Distinguishing the two can be nearby impossible Because of the strength of the will. People are behind every fantasy world. Reality is here to stay. An image of what we once were this is showing. What else do we have to give? To think, feel, and react With all our hopes, dreams, and emotions. Taking only essentials to not be late, Insect repellent, a flashlight, a net, His favorite tackle box overflowing with bait, And a fishing pole, most important thing yet. The pond behind the stables was his destination As he headed down the grass worn path. Chirping crickets reacted to his breathing location Though he did not stay for the aftermath. The awards just give me recoginition. Without them my achievements would still exist. Someone can work hard for a lifetime, Or sacrifice it to save another, And not recieve an award of any kind. Someone else accumulates awards with little or no effort. What is the true difference between them? No system we create honors everyone fairly, But that does not mean we should not try. It is better to give too much recognition Than not to give enough. People who reward the accomplishments of others Tend to be rewarded themselves. If I continue my progress other awards will come Better enabling me to show my work to others. Such awards are wanted, but not needed. Copyright 2001, Steve Lucky PEACE By ... My job is not to distribute blame, But find a way to end this shame. It is something I feel compelled to stop. Who will make the effort if I will not? My attempt may be futile, but still I must try For some of these people are willing to die. Multiple people are needed for both war and peace. The desire for peace I want to increase. No war has to be eternal. Both sides now know I think this is infernal. I wait for replies from either side. It is up to them to change the tide. Copyright 2001, Steve Lucky THE LIGHT OF GOD By ... Copyright 2001, Steve Lucky HIDDEN PATHWAYS By ... Steve Lucky While exploring the woods as I often do, I encountered a hidden pathway. Because of some low tree branches The path looked like it was hardly ever used. This further motivated me to follow it And see where it took me. Sometimes the path was hard to follow. Grass, trees, and other types of plant life Had decided to claim the path for themselves. Despite this, the path could still be seen Seperating the large plants from one another. As I continued down the hidden pathway, I noticed another one emerging from it, And then another one, and then another one. Soon I realized the entire forest Was filled the hidden pathways, Hidden because not too many people Bothered to explore this part of the forest. After pausing a few moments Debating which path to take I decided to travelled down the path I was already on. Eventually the path took me out of the woods And into a large open field. At the other end of the field Was a car dealership Reminding me that no place Is totally untouched by civilazation. Tomorrow I will try another hidden pathway. There are plenty of them left to explore. Copyright 2001, Steve Lucky IN A CHANGING WORLD By ... Steve Lucky The world does not stand still. It is constantly in motion. Can wealth, power, and fame stand up against A simple act of kindness? Wealth, power, and fame fade with the passage of time Kindness can actually grow Into something far larger than the people involved. Only a giant wield something that large. Normal people look at the giants in awe And wonder how such a deed could possibly be done. The giants know the secret. It is not done by strength, intelligence, or raw power. Some things required more than just tissue When other people it would involve. The older brother agreed to help out With rewards not seen in a tangible way. A kind word or two was all that was needed For the younger brother to get through the day. Contact between the two brothers continued Just like they had done in the past Neither of them would ever begin rude. They had a relationship they knew would last. No one else was going to do it for him. Back on Earth, no one could do it for him. Meteors, radiation, and dangers not yet discovered Were things he regularly faced on the job. Ready to return to the ship at any given moment, He examined the damaged solar panel. Every crew member had a job to do. If any one of them was left undone, They would not survive the harshness of space. All of them codepended on one another. This was something the astronaut had learned back on Earth. Life threatening or not, a job not done Created a tremendous burden on the others. In space more than ever, they were depending on him. With a steady hand, he repaired the damaged solar panel And made sure it was working properly. When his job was done, he returned to the spacecraft And told his teammates inside, One flying the ship and one monitoring communications for Earth, How greatful he was to have them. Justice does not always have the power To defeat wrong doing within the hour. Freedom for everyone comes at a price. Limiting it to one nation just would not be nice. Some people use alternatives to war To prove freedom is worth fighting for. Others risk their very lives To make sure another's freedom survives. Still others donate time and money Because lack of freedom is not funny. The gift of laughter does its part To insure the right kind of heart. Although evil can win on any given day, It does not have to be that way. The forces of good can and will take action To become the main attraction. Whenever freedom is at stake Immediate action we need to take. Copyright 2001, Steve Lucky MEANING By ... Steve Lucky At times I feel my life lacks meaning. With different colors, sizes, ages, and densities They resemble people and all their complexities. Light from distant lands and times long ago Provide a connection to what we do not know. Looking at the stars gives us a way to search The whole of our existance that we call the universe. Very little of it is here to see and touch. Any star has mysteries adding to so much. Beauty found in a fragile flower, Is something they will always cherish. Although all of them at some point will cower, They will make sure such things do not perish And correct whatever seems unfairish. Whatever the place, whenever the time, Group members tend to be quite darish When preventing any serious crime From destroying all sense of reason or rhyme. Their adventures come in a variety As they try to wipe away the grime Of our distorted society. Their arguements have some notariety Threatening to cause the group to split Yet they hold on to their propriety And stay together in spite of it. Each of them has a place to fit Together in the overall plan. If one is in trouble, non of them will quit. Rescue attempts will continue as long as they can Find a way to end the unfair captivity began. Doing whatever they have to do, Torry, Bob, Amy, Mr. Trim, and Dan Know as a team they will always come through. Their opponents have a different view. Working together is only done Because powers come in numbers too Instead of just the extreme power of one. For them teamwork would not be fun. With the help of a large supply of friends Torry is able to move more than a ton Past a vast assortment of twists and bends. While doing this he still defends Those who need his help wherever they may be. Need for his services never ends. All over Jesterville he will see People who will constantly plea For him to come and help them out. Sometimes he recieves no more than tea And this will make him start to doubt What his services are all about. Payment does not come only in money. It can also be a kind word or shout About something someone thinks is funny. Laughter can be as sweet as hunney To one fighting the corruption of greed. Whether or not the day is sunny, It is nice to know someone cares about his need. This is why Torry plants the send Of kindness in the hearts of others. He knows a kind word or deed Returns to the giver like those it covers. In the form of a bird Torry hovers Keeping an eye out for any sign of trouble. Above the city he discovers Things lurking inside the rubble With plans to make their efforts double By kidnapping people instead of stealing And trapping them in a magic bubble. Pleased is Torry when he sees them revealing What they thought they were concealing. His magic crystal is a secret except When those he is around give him a feeling The secret is better shared than kept. Sometimes they can seem quite inept Fighting opponents who have planned in advance. On the ground, Torry crept Closer to them for the chance To get a better look and enhance His knowlege of what they had in store. Not wanting to risk getting caught by stopping to dance, He flew off warning the others before They had a chance to plan anymore. In his natural form, Torry prepares For the army of robots coming to Mr. Trim's door. Since every one of the greatly cares, The responsibility each of them shares. All of them have and job to do Even at the worst of times no one dares Let the robots just come through. Their defense system gives them a better view So the robots will not take them by surprise. With the army dwindling down to a few Most robots could not realize An recently created energy draining field lies Directly between them and the lab. Overconfident programmers did not advise Anything other than to give it a blind stab. Because of this, the robots had nothing to grab When they are caught in the energy draining field. Backup programs in the remaining robots gave them a jab Making them realize they had to yield Until the source of the problem is revealed. Wasting no time, Mr. Trim and the others, Visible but radar concealed, Shot special weapons in the area that covers All circuitry dealing with moves and hovers. With the last robot failing to function, Torry joins his sisters and brothers Of the group helping Mr. Trim in junction With the larger group known as the Jesterville Conjuction. Together they could fill a classroom. If the equipment should ever misfunction, Each has a way to end the gloom. Any of them could unseal their doom. Their opponents could not handle defeat Faced again with failure, all they could do is fume. Such a mistake they would not repeat. No one pursed them to give them more heat So they would be back to try again. Torry and his friends remaining sweet, Being merciful more than just now and then, Gave their oppenent's rebuilding process a chance to begin. Although it might lead to their undoing, It would not stop the group in Mr. Trim's den From keeping their mercy contantly renewing. Preparing constantly for attack is what they would be doing, But they would remain with what is good. They knew their opponents are constantly stewing So they would rather live as they should. If trouble came again, all of them would Work together to protect Jesterville And eagerly do whatever they could To make sure everyone got their fill. Torry knows he always will Somehow manage to win in the end. For his mistakes, he tries to pay the bill. Whether he can or not, he remains a friend. Help, at all times, he is willing to lend As if no true problems are going on. All of their problems seem to mend. In a short time, they are totally gone. Even the villians who never won Remain free to give it another shot. They can temporarily capture or successfully con, But always fail when things get hot. No matter what happens, Jesterville will not Ever fall into enemy hands. Torry and his friends giving it all they have got, Insuring justice across the lands. Mr. Trim does not make too many demands, Yet they are there just the same. With friends as numerous as the sands, They always win no matter what the game. Such things exist in the fictious world of my childhood. In reality, problems can take much longer to solve. Good and evil are blurred, even if one could Actually tell which of these groups a deed would involve. Sometimes one has to solve problems on his or her own. Even the best of help is not always reliable. It can seem all one can do is sigh and moan When overwhelming problems are undeniable. Still the stories from my childhood have something to teach About how to solve the problems of today. Love, cooperation, and persistance will reach Far beyond that of the selfish way. Fiction and reality forever form a link To give every day people a chance to think. Copyright 2001, Steve Lucky
